Many people believe they can just board a plane from where they are currently traveling and land at Machu Picchu. That is not the case, though. From Lima to Machu Picchu, there are a lot of steps to take. You must first travel to Lima. After that, you must travel to Cusco, which is located in the Sacred Valley.
There are three ways to go from Lima to Machu Picchu:
You can board a bus that travels through Arequipa and Huacachina.
You can take a direct flight to Cusco. More time will be needed to adjust to this.
No trains run between Lima and Cusco.
After arriving in Cusco, you must travel from Cusco to Machu Picchu.
