A celebration that brings the people of Cusco together via allegory and restrained play. The "yunzas or grasshoppers" are the main draw of this festival, which features a plethora of games involving water, talc, and other mixtures. The major party of the Cusco Carnival is hosted in Cusco's Plaza de Armas, where both public and private institutions showcase their greatest dances, comparsas, and gangs—many of which were victorious in previous South Valley and Sacred Valley Carnival Festivals.
