The Plaza de Armas
The Plaza de Armas
It was the hub of the Andean civilization known as the Empire of the Incas (1100 AD to 1532 AD) during pre-Hispanic times; its original name is Aucay Pata, which translates to "The Most Important Place." There were palaces, temples, armories, and schools all around it, and in the center there was a truncated pyramid where ceremonial activities were conducted.
